Motion to repudiate repression of Mexican teachers
Solidarity with educators, students and the community of Asunción Nochixtlán - Oaxaca - Mexico

The National Confederation of Education Workers - CNTE - Brazil, represents four million professionals in basic education in Brazil, with 49 affiliated entities across the country. It defends quality public education, democratic, secular and that respects its professionals.

It is committed to the working class, with its struggles in defense of its rights and for more achievements and better working and living conditions. For this reason, the CNTE expresses its strong rejection of the repression against peaceful protest of teachers from Asunción Nochixtlán, in the state of Oaxaca, in southern Mexico.

Five hundred protesters were violently attacked by 800 federal police officers who fired hundreds of shots. The action resulted in at least 6 deaths, 22 missing and 50 gunshot wounds. The peaceful demonstration blocked Highway 190 and called for better teaching conditions, freedom of expression and expression, conditions for a democratic state of law. Parents, students and the community joined the educators to demand an end to President Enrique Peña Nieto's anti-educational reform, which has already caused thousands of layoffs, overcrowding the classrooms and compromising the poor quality of education in that country.

CNTE - Brasil is in solidarity with Mexico's educators and the entire school community, reaffirming the legitimacy of their struggle. Knowing that public education is an inalienable right of all people, it requires investigating the facts and punishing the guilty.

Education must be a priority for all governments in all countries; educators must be respected and respected in their rights. Condemnable repression shames government officials and causes outrage among educators around the world. We cannot accept that barbarism is installed in governmental relations with organized social and union movements.

CNTE - Brasil demands the immediate investigation of the facts and the punishment of the guilty parties! He sympathizes with the National Coordinator of State Workers and all the protesters who were cornered and terrified by the repression of the Mexican police.

For public education that meets the needs of the population and out of respect for educators!
