«Cape Verde wins with integration of pre-school in regular education» - Rede Educação Para Todos
The integration of pre-school education into mainstream education will restore social justice and put Cape Verde on the right path towards inclusion and quality education. Who says it is Abraão Borges, coordinator of the National Education For All Campaign Network, heard by Radio Morabeza.

The network reacts thus to the announcement of the Prime Minister who, this Wednesday, announced the integration of pre-school in the regular education system. According to Ulisses Correia e Silva, the objective is to introduce more quality and allow all children to have access to that subsystem that is currently ensured by private initiatives and by the City Councils.

The coordinator of the National Campaign for Education for All Network, an NGO that has been working for a long time for the Government to assume pre-school as part of the education system, says that Cape Verde wins.

“Because if we take a good look, children with less possession do not attend the kindergarten. According to the study that we have already done as a Network and as a Cape Verdean Teachers' Federation, about 20% do not have access to pre-school ”, he explains.

In this sense, in addition to restoring social justice, Abraão Borges believes that the measure will make the archipelago achieve, “effectively”, the Sustainable Development Objective 4, on inclusion and quality education.

"So, Cape Verde is following a formidable path," he says.

Borges affirms that the chain has already done and already presented the studies "that show the advantage of the preschool in the country".

"The Government already has everything for the implementation of pre-school," he says.

Abraão Borges expects the measure to be implemented in 2018, as guaranteed by Ulisses Correia e Silva.

The Prime Minister, who spoke about the introduction of foreign languages already in pre-school, says that the training of monitors will be a strong bet.
